Visitors to the Auto Trader website voted in six different categories – and the sporty Ford Focus RS claimed the overall prize.

It beat other category winners, including the Audi A2, BMW X5 and Jaguar XJ, to take the top honour as the UK’s best second-hand buy. Meanwhile, it’s clearly still not over at Rover, because the defunct 75 won the family car section, ahead of the Ford Mondeo and Focus.
