Powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and capable of completing the 0-60mph sprint in only 7.0 seconds, the hot Beemer is expected to wear 125i Sport badges. This means no return for the coveted M1 marque, which made its debut on the maker"s mid-engined Seventies supercar.

It will be joined by 2.0-litre petrol and diesel variants, costing from í‚á£17,340.
Meanwhile, BMW says its 1-Series will be compatible with Apple"s iPod. A special connection links the new car"s stereo to the portable jukebox, which can store up to 10,000 songs digitally.
