BRITISH car maker Axon plans to build a green supermini using flexible carbon fibre.

Equipped with a 500cc engine, the model will return 80mpg and emit 80g/km of CO2 – which puts it in tax-exempt Band A. It could be built at the brand’s base in Wellingborough, Northants, and go on sale by 2009.

BRITISH drivers will go to great lengths to avoid taking a break from motoring on long journeys.

A survey of 1,600 people for drinks manufacturer Lucozade found that a third drive for up to six hours without stopping, while 46 per cent of respondents are happy to travel for four hours.

A huge 66 per cent said that they eat while on the move, and 29 per cent admitted to reading a map when sitting behind the wheel. "Taking extreme measures to avoid stopping for a break can have serious consequences," a Lucozade spokeswoman explained to Auto Express.
