The first all new MG has finally rolled off the production lines at the
firm’s new headquarters in China – and Auto Express has the only official pictures.
Revealed early this morning at HQ of MG"s parent firm, Nanjin Automobile Corporation, the launch of the three machines is a milestone in the British brand"s 75 year history.
It’s almost two years to the day since time was called on MG Rover group and production ended at Longbridge – but this latest unveiling should give fans of the marque and those nervous about the chances that MG will bring production back to the UK something to cheer about.
Although NAC has hinted that it will look after the interests of its own market first, rumour suggests that we will eventually get our hands on the car later this year.
However, plans to return production to Longbridge as early as next month have now been shelved as part of a change in the company"s worldwide production plan. Nanjing has reportedly also asked the Chinese government for an extra ?200 million in funding. Production is now expected to restart in the west midlands in June.
