The car"s the work of London-based tuner Autodelta. The firm has a reputation for pushing the Alfa"s 3.2-litre V6 engine to the max and has previously increased the capacity to 3.7 litres. But for this new model, Auto÷delta has now added a supercharger. The result is the astonishing 405bhp GT 3.7 Super, which can sprint from 0-60mph in only 4.9 seconds. However, this extra power doesn"t come cheap - the engine upgrade alone is ÷£13,500.

And as the Alfa is still front-wheel drive, a limited-slip diff, reworked suspension and uprated brake kit are recommended, which adds a further ÷£4,400. Finally the bodykit, which includes discreet side skirts, front splitter and rear spoiler, costs ÷£1,880, including fitting. Autodelta expects to sell around 10 GT 3.7 Supers a year.

The company"s work on the Alfa GT Coupé is well known among enthusiasts. The 3.7 Super builds on the success of the 320bhp GT 3.2 Super (2004) and the 341bhp GT 3.2 Super Evo (2005).
