The Stuttgart-based...

The Stuttgart-based firm has recently brought us the Carrera 4S and Cayman - and now it"s set to use next month"s Geneva Motor Show as a platform to launch the awesome new 911 Turbo.

As always, the mega-Porsche will be easy to tell apart from more humble variants thanks to its modified nose. Large air intakes dominate the front valance, while a pair of vents nestle in the rear wheel-arches behind the doors.

At the back, the Turbo is 22 millimetres wider than the model it replaces, and features a redesigned spoiler. Now in its sixth generation, the top-of-the-range sportster features a 3.6-litre boxer engine. It pumps out an impressive 480bhp - that"s 133bhp per litre and 60bhp more than the previous version! Pulling power has increased, too, from 560Nm of torque up to 620Nm.

With the powerplant mated to the Tiptronic S automatic transmission, the new car completes the sprint from 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds, while the maximum speed is 192mph. To help transfer this power on to the road, the Turbo is equipped with four-wheel drive, coupled with the Porsche Trac-tion Management (PTM) system. Massively powerful ceramic composite brakes are available as an optional extra.

The 911 Turbo will hit showrooms on 24 June. Meanwhile, the Swiss expo looks like being a busy event for Porsche, as the firm also intends to surprise visitors by displaying the forthcoming 911 GT3 racer.
