The Renault M탩gane diesel is going automatic. The French maker has introduced its first oil-burning self-shifter, a 1.5-litre dCi. As well as returning 48.7mpg and emitting only 153g/km of CO2, the car covers 0-60mph in 14.7 seconds and has a top speed of 108mph. Prices start at í‚á£14,490 and rise to í‚á£15,800.

Speed rap detection specialist Cheetah has launched the second generation of its GPS rear view mirror. Using global positioning satellites, the system alerts you to the presence of safety and traffic light cameras only on your side of the road, minimising the likelihood of false alarms.
As with the original version, the reflective unit clips over the rear view mirror. However, the latest model is less bulky than before, and its database includes the UK, much of Europe, Australia, Canada and even the US.
Alerts are delivered verbally, and supported by an on-screen digital countdown to the camera’s position.
The maker claims the replacement mirror eliminates blind spots, as it’s bigger than a standard unit, and its anti-glare coating provides better night vision than most auto-dimming mirrors.
What’s more, if you buy before 20 December 2007, Cheetah will throw in a lifetime database subscription.
