Underneath the skin...

Underneath the skin lies the basis for a model likely to be called the V3. It’s essentially BMW’s answer to sporty people carriers such as Ford’s S-MAX, and the firm hopes it will succeed where other prestige offerings like Mercedes’ B-Class have failed. Based on platform architecture shared with the 3-Series and the X3 SUV, the V3 will provide more versatility for families than any BMW before – but with the same style and driver appeal.

Specialist Experian...

Specialist Experian has added an environmental section to its data reports, so second-hand buyers can see the ecological credentials of their next vehicle, in addition to finding out if it has been stolen or written-off during its lifetime.

The law already states that dealers must display information about CO2 emissions on new cars, but this requirement does not extend to second-hand vehicles. As a result, potential buyers can find it difficult to source details of a model’s CO2 emissions and, therefore, the cost of its road tax. The environmental report is supplied free of charge with Experian AutoChecks, while the relevant tax banding for the vehicle is also included – so prospective purchasers know exactly how much the car will cost to run.

Many used dealers are now likely to display the information on their forecourts to help buyers choose a second-hand car. A spokesman for Experian told Auto Express: “Custo?mers are much more aware than they used to be of the effect that these factors have on the environment and their pockets, and they are asking more questions.

“As a result, a number of used car dealers have expressed a desire for this information, so that they can display it on their stock.”
