Research by RAC Auto Windscreens found that, with one in 10 vehicles containing ÷£1,000 of portable kit, there has been a 23 per cent increase in opportunist break-ins. Worse still, insurers won"t cover the items unless they are secured in a locked boot before being stolen.

Either remove valuables like mobiles and laptops, or securely lock them in the boot beforw leaving the car.÷
