Police have a new weapon in the war against speeders. A helicopter fitted with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), radar speed detection and a ò€˜Skyshoutò€™ public address system ò€“ which warns drivers theyò€™re being tracked ò€“ is being trialled in Essex.
The chopper can read any reg plate from 700 feet up, although the technology is aimed at cutting the number of motorcyclists killed or seriously injured in the area.
