Not content with the...

Not content with the Yaris supermini and Aygo city car, the Japanese firm has let slip that it will launch an even smaller urban runaround by the end of the decade.

And it"s likely to be inspired by this exciting concept, called the Endo, which was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2005.

Taking aim squarely at the budget market dominated in Europe by the Dacia Logan, the new model will certainly cause a stir. It will boast the striking looks of the Endo concept and its tiny dimensions, measuring just three metres long by around 1.7m wide. Inside, there will be room for four, with folding and sliding seats making for a flexible cabin, and a large tailgate at the rear giving excellent access to the boot. Under the bonnet, power will come from a development of the Aygo"s compact 67bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which should give the lightweight city car sprightly performance. Although it will be primarily targeted at emerging car markets such as China and Russia, the new model should go on sale in Europe in 2010 with a price tag of around ÷£5,000.
