For the first time in...

For the first time in 15 years, the 2008 season will feature a grand prix field racing without traction control. The teams are already testing a common Engine Control Unit (ECU) which governing body the FIA hopes will allow it to ensure no squad is providing drivers with aids that prevent them spinning their wheels.

A new trim option has been added to the Audi A6 range. The Exclusive adds leather seats and steering wheel, black floor mats and brushed aluminum dash detailing for í‚á£1,300-í‚á£2,800, depending on engine and spec. A new luxury pack is also available on all V6 and V8 cars until October. Featuring heated front seats and parking sensors, it"s í‚á£1,250 on top of the price of the V6 SE. All A6 2.7-litre TDIs come with quattro 4WD free of charge until October, too.

Drivers in uproar over fines chaos

A council has been accused of ticketing drivers unfairly by using CCTV-equipped cars to ‘stake out’ traffic pinch-points. Wardens in Lambeth, London, then issue fines to cars that don’t give way when they should. Motorists have accused them of cropping images to make offences look worse. Elsewhere, wardens in Halifax, W Yorks, have ticketed drivers stopped on yellow lines during the two-minute silence on Remembrance Sunday.

French giant Citroen is offering owners a ‘Stay Green’ health check for their car. Priced ?29.99, it comprises diagnostic inspections to ensure emissions and economy are at optimum levels.
