The car is based on the Simba concept, which first appeared at the 2002 Bolgona Motor Show. It has a higher ride height than the standard model, while chunky wheelarch extensions, thick side protectors and underbody strike plates will give it plenty of off-road protection. The pictures also show how the 4x4 has a mounting point for an optional front bullbar.

The revised Boxster and Cayman benefit from updated styling. They also get the twin-clutch box from the bigger 911, and versions of its fuel-efficient new 2.9-litre flat-six engine.
The Boxster has a 255bhp unit and the Cayman a 265bhp motor. S-badged 3.4-litre cars deliver 310bhp and 320bhp respectively. The changes add Ò£1,250 to the price from launch in February, with the Boxster starting at Ò£34,420 and the top Cayman S costing Ò£45,050.
But the firmò€™s new four-door coupé, the Panamera, wonò€™t be in LA. It debuts a few days later. Visit www.autoexpress.co.uk to see it on Monday 24 November.
