Created by paper craftsman...
Created by paper craftsman Sheung Yee, it"s an origami kit that can be built into a life-size working V8 - powered by batteries. "It took a year to design and construct," explained Yee, of Montreal, Canada. "Each part is precisely made."
It’s supplied...
It’s supplied in a heavy-duty case, and features a multi-position ‘D’ handle, and a six-inch backing plate with a Velcro base, making pad swapping simple. Polishing pads come in a variety of grades –from very soft to more abrasive for harsher polishes or mild cutting agents. Disappointingly, though, none was included, and at ?13 each plus the machine price, the package is clearly aimed at real enthusiasts and concours competitors.
It worked very well on our big test panel, applying polish effectively and buffing up to an even finish – in a way that would take much longer and more effort manually. The motor felt strong and we found it impossible to create unwanted swirls or make it dig in (the benefit of a dual-action unit).
We’d have preferred a ‘dead-man’s’ on/off control rather than a conventional switch. What’s more, at 5kg, it’s no lightweight – which guarantees aching arms after working on vertical panels.
