The Touring isn"t expected to arrive here until late 2005, but when it does, it should appeal to keen drivers with an active lifestyle. As with the 5-Series Touring, this load-lugger is likely to feature compact hydro-pneumatic suspension. It might look like a classic Jaguar XK120 tackling a hill climb, but it"s actually a model racer - and it"s due to take part in the UK"s largest-ever slot car rally.

More than 200 of the tiny, electric-powered models are expected to turn up to the event which, like a real rally, will be timed against the clock on several different stages. Sponsored by Toyota, it takes place at the Japanese firm"s UK HQ near Epsom, Surrey, on 23-24 September.
