It turns out that new chief Carlos Ghosn was less than pleased when he viewed the rather bland pre-production Twingo II - which this week"s mag has sensationally scooped thanks to colleagues in France. And with none of the flair of the Zoé concept-influenced car we revealed in issue 885, an unhappy Ghosn has ordered a redesign before the model makes an appearance in showrooms in 2007.

Chinese company SAIC - which bought Rover last year and also owns SsangYong Motor Company - will use its Korean subsidiary"s network to sell the Ford Focus rival, the Roewe W2. The franchises will carry SAIC"s offensive into Europe until the Chinese company sets up an entirely new network of Roewe-branded dealers in 2010.

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) is tackling light commercial drivers" image problem with the Van Drivers" Handbook, which details major road rules and requirements. "Hopefully it can improve white van man"s reputation," said FTA spokesman, Lawrie Alford.
