Honda brought us the humanoid robot ò€“ and now the latest Japanese wonder is a futuristic motorised unicycle.

Using technology from the Asimo robot and the worldò€™s first omni-directional driven wheel, the U3-X lets the rider perch on top while moving backwards, forwards, to the side and diagonally. Direction and speed ò€“ up to 4mph ò€“ are controlled by leaning your body.

Developed at Hondaò€™s Technology Research Centre in Saitama, the U3-X will be demonstrated at the Tokyo Motor Show, from 24 October.
