Following on from our story in Issue 932, which showed a mildly disguised GT-R testing at the Nürburgring in Germany, this week"s mag can now reveal how the newcomer will look. It retains the distinctive headlights of the original Skyline GT-R concept, which made its world debut at the Tokyo Motor Show last year. With narrow, pod-style lenses and black frames incorp÷orating deep air intakes - which extend to nearly meet the front splitter - the lamps provide the GT-R with a menac÷ing look.
Performance should be easily on a par with prestige supercars such as Porsche"s 911 Turbo, with 0-60mph in four seconds and a top speed of nearly 200mph
Matching the exciting visuals is the Nissan"s power source - a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. Deliver÷ing 480bhp, it drives all four wheels through a twin-clutch seven-speed sequential transmission similar to the VW Group"s DSG set-up.
Performance should be easily on a par with prestige supercars such as Porsche"s 911 Turbo, with 0-60mph in four seconds and a top speed of nearly 200mph. There are no official plans to bring the GT-R to the UK yet, but if it does make it here, expect a ÷£50,000 price tag and a 2008 on-sale date.
