THE AA might be better known for fixing breakdowns, but now it has decided to use its expertise to keep your car looking its best as well. The six-piece Essentials Valeting range features wash and wax, trim, tyre, upholstery and wheel cleaners, plus glass polish.
Ensuring you get a perfect...
Ensuring you get a perfect finish when waxing a car is down to good preparation ò€“ such as using a clay bar to remove surface contaminants and old layers of wax. Now, Halfords has joined the valeting experts by offering its own Clay and Detailing Kit with everything you need for the job.
While the 100g bar isnò€™t the biggest available, you should only clay a vehicle a couple of times a year, so there is more than enough. Removal of our overspray was acceptable, although it struggled against baked-on brake dust.
However, the lubricant included helped the bar glide smoothly across our freshly washed paintwork and, after a little work, left it with a glass-like finish, even if it didnò€™t smell particularly nice. When applying wax, there was much less friction on our carò€™s bodywork, and it was easier to buff to a shine. The inclusion of a microfibre cloth was a nice touch, and makes this a perfect starter set for motorists who want to try this method out.
