Clip the PL8C70 into the neat elastic harness, slip it over a headrest, plug the lead into a cigar lighter socket and away you go. The tablet-style player has a seven-inch screen, two speakers on the front panel and can also be used to play DVDs on your home TV.

The production model...

The production model draws heavily on the M3X concept that appeared at last September"s Paris Motor Show. Bosses at parent firm GM are keen to stress that while the design is fresh, the overall shape and many of the styling cues will be familiar. Size-wise, the newcomer is exactly the same length as the outgoing model, at 3.50 metres.

Design guru Gordon Murray...

Design guru Gordon Murray has released details of his latest project. And itò€™s the complete opposite of his most famous work ò€“ the record-breaking McLaren F1 supercar.

Codenamed the T25, the city car is the first model to be developed by his self-titled design company, and the focus here is on lightweight and low emissions.

Murray claims the car will tip the scales at under 1000kg, but without sacrificing safety requirements ò€“ at least a four-star Euro NCAP rating is guaranteed.

The carò€™s party piece is its size ò€“ two can be driven side-by-side in a single lane, and three can squeeze into a single parking space. A clever folding design means the T25 can be flat-packed for efficient transport in large numbers ò€“ and assembled with ease at the other end.

First prototypes are set to emerge in a yearò€™s time, and prices are rumoured to be around the Ò£7,000 mark when the car goes on sale in 2011.
