Check out the first official pictures of Hyundai’s new city car – the i10.

Set to go on sale in the UK in March 2008, the little Korean model will be available from just under ÷£6,500. Even basic variants come with air conditioning as standard along with front electric windows, central locking and electric power steering.

Replacing the old Amica, the i10 will be the smallest model in the range. A compact 3,565mm long and 1,595mm wide, the i10 has a wheelbase of 2,380mm. Despite its size, the i10 is equipped to carry five occupants.

Power comes from a 66bhp 1.1-litre petrol engine mated to choice of manual or automatic gearboxes.

Go for the standard fit manual and combined economy is claimed to be in excess of 60mpg while CO2 emissions are 119g/km. This is low enough to qualify the i10 for a ÷£35 per year VED ‘tax disc’ and exemption from the new London Congestion Charge proposals due to take effect in February.

All i10 variants come with a five year warranty.
