Bosses have made a U-turn over plans to fit controversial CCTV cameras to fire engines.

It"s thought the units could have been used to check if drivers were wearing seatbelts, using mobile phones or ferrying youngsters correctly. But the Fire Brigades Union has raised fears that law enforcement duties could put its members in direct conflict with the public.
