Called VentureCam, it"s a wireless camera that transmits real-time moving colour pictures back to a dashboard-mounted screen. It can be placed anywhere within 20 metres of the car, and allows the driver to see how close he is to objects.

PHOTO-quality pictures are laid on top of standard sat-nav maps so drivers can compare the view through the windscreen with the display at a glance. A spokesman for developer Teleatlas said: "We will add them to maps of Berlin, Barcelona and Athens soon, and London before Christmas."
