An auto-dimming rear view mirror is essential if you donò€™t want to be dazzled by the headlights of cars behind you. Not all vehicles have the devices as standard ò€“ but now, you can add it to any car with this clip-on AlphaMirror.

The unit is strapped on to your existing mirror, taking the place of the glass face. It took us a matter of minutes to secure, although you need to pay attention to the straps as one came loose during our test. While itò€™s simple to fit, you should make sure the AlphaMirror is suitable for your vehicle ò€“ in one test car it prevented the sun visors flipping down.

The point of the device is that you shouldnò€™t notice it working, and it did the job without fuss. For the duration of our test we werenò€™t dazzled by a following car, and only occasionally did we notice a flicker as the unit changed between shaded and normal modes. Itò€™s a great retro-fit addition.
