Get used to seeing this...
Get used to seeing this picture - it"s part of this year"s festive drink-drive campaign. It shows two drinkers, each marked out like a measuring jug, but at different levels. The message to motorists is that it"s impossible to estimate your alcohol limit, and that it takes less than you think for your abilities to be impaired. Leaflets, posters and TV ads will be backed up by messages printed on milk cartons, in off-licences and at selected pubs.
Although it"s still...
Although it"s still officially a pilot project, www.traffic-england.com will provide live congestion information for motorways and A-roads across England. Links to pages covering Wales and Scotland are included.
A road map shows delays using different colours - yellow means a 15-30 minute wait, with red indicating a longer hold-up. Moving your cursor over message boards reveals what they are reading. The site is part of a 10-year, í‚á£160million Highways Agency project to improve the collection of traffic information. An interactive phone line for motorists without Internet access will follow.
